What Are The Benefits Of Cloud Computing?

Tuesday, January 7th, 2014

Cloud computing is one of the big buzzwords right now. But why? Clearly if everyone is talking about it then there must be something to it. Cloud computing offers many benefits to users.  Whether you know it or not, you may already be using cloud based storage. That photo you just uploaded to facebook, that is stored in the cloud so you can share the content with other members. In between spaces

The benefits to cloud computing are very straightforward. Your data becomes accessible from anywhere if you have the correct permissions. Additionally, data in the cloud is safer, it requires security backups and firewalls to protect your sensitive data from prying eyes.

In short, cloud computing is beneficial regardless of the reasons which you chose to use it.

The Importance of Backing Up Your Data

Monday, December 30th, 2013

Data BackupAccidents happen and they always seem to happen at the worst of times. It always seems like your computer crashes or you get a terrible computer virus right before a big presentation. For some people, this can cause a big problem. However, if you make a point to back up your work to an external source on a regular basis, you will still have access to that project and be able to carry on like normal. We’re here to pass on some different ways to back up your drive. Pick one or pick a few!

  • External Hard Drive – Copying your files and putting them on an external hard drive gives you a mobile way to keep your files safe. This is one of the most common types of file backup used. It does have a few drawbacks, though. External hard drives can be infected, just like a regular hard drive, and they are not disaster proof.
  • Online Backups – There are quite a few companies on the web that allow you to put your files in a cloud type of backup. You can access them from anywhere that has an Internet connection. Generally these are free, though if you go over a certain amount of space, they may begin to charge. Online backups are safer than external hard drives.
  • Discs/CDs – Discs are one of the least expensive ways to back up your work, though they’re not one of the safest. Discs can easily be scratched or broken. For short term, though, these are a good solution.

These are some of the most common ways to back your important files up. You want to back up your files at least once a week, but more often if you have very important files that you want to avoid losing or becoming corrupted. Backing your work up even in two or three different ways can be very beneficial to you in the long run.

Government Cloud Computing Provider

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013

Government agencies and organizations need highly secure software and computing systems to tackle their mission critical tasks on a daily basis. Under the Cloud First policy, the Obama Administration has moved to encourage government agencies to switch to the cloud in order to eliminate unnecessary IT expenses while improving the power and performance of IT systems.United States Capitol Dome

Government agencies can leverage the cloud in a variety of ways, from basic backup to custom designed solutions tailored to deliver software that meets a niche need. Currently, the government is using cloud computing in three major areas, those being, a) storage, web hosting, and backup b) running databases identity management, and geospatial information c) email, client management, payment processing, and other administrative needs.

When working with a cloud computing provider, it’s essential that government agencies and associations make sure they are working with a provider that complies with standards in the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).

Cloud Computing Benefits

Thursday, October 10th, 2013

Cloud computing offers convenient and reliable access to shared configurable computing resources – things like networks, applications, software, and stored data. More and more businesses are switching to the cloud to streamline the way they operate and to make joint document access safe and simple. Here are a few reasons why your business should get its head out of the clouds and switch to cloud computing:cloudstorage

Mobility -

If your employees ever need to do business in a dash – like sales people who operate on the go – the cloud allows access to documents on mobile devices and tablets. This means that any time an employee needs to work outside the office, they can use their software and open files with the cloud so long as they have access to the Internet.

Saving Money –

Cloud computing services are often offered as scalable solutions, paid on a month-to-month basis without obligation to long-term contracts. This allows companies to adjust their computing needs as their business evolves and expands over time. And since the cloud minimizes the need for external hard drives and memory, companies can save money on costly hardware and computer systems, too.

Safety First –

The cloud provides a multi-level security system that backs up data in multiple locations and encrypts files to make them incredibly difficult to be either lost or infiltrated. This redundancy makes it unlikely for hackers, viruses, and cybersecurity risks to threaten the sensitive files of businesses.

Sharing -

Offering an easy means of secure file sharing, cloud computing eliminates the need for employees to send emails with large documents back and forth to one another, facilitating optimal collaboration. This ultimately creates a more productive workspace overall.

Is Your Data Safer in the Cloud?

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013

When it comes to your data, you want to keep it as safe as possible. As internet connections become faster and more dependable, storing all of your data on the cloud becomes more enticing. As alluring as storing your data in the cloud is, there are still some concerns that need to be addressed.cloudstorage

  • Is your data private? It is important that your data is being kept safe and not being used for advertising purposes.
  • How available is your data? You want to be able to access it when you want or need it.
  • Is your data secured? It is important to make sure that your data cannot be hacked or stolen.
  • Where is your data being stored? If it is it hosted in another country, your data may be subject to different rules and regulations.

How Safe Is Cloud Computing?

Friday, July 5th, 2013

More companies are beginning to swap their traditional tangible data storage for cloud storage, but how safe is cloud computing? While no system is one hundred percent reliable, cloud computing is actually safer than on-site data storage. The data stored in the cloud is protected by multiple levels of security. There are layers of firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, intrusion detection systems and other security practices in place to keep your data safe from prying eyes. In addition to the virtual security just mentioned, data centers are protected by physical security. This may include but is not limited to retina scanners, backup power generators, backup cooling systems and multiple network providers. With cloud storage, your data can include songs, pictures, videos and documents whether they’re business related or otherwise are safely protected in large data centers.Network servers and Earth globe

Each data center, or storage area network, stores and replicates your data and then it is stored at several data centers across the country. If there is an issue at a data center, most times it would go unknown to you because your data has stayed out of harm’s way due to the backing up and storage of data. With all of that being said, cloud computing seems to be the safest way to back up and protect your documents.
