Federal Program Will Train New Digital Team of Contracting Officers

A new federal training program will soon begin in an effort to train federal contracting officers to help their agencies more effectively procure technology. The effort will be led by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, and is similar in concept to the U.S. Digital Service, which also seeks to improve the government’s relationship to the tech sector in terms of acquisitions and contracting. Federal Contract Spending Down in 2014

Federal contract spending was down by 3.1% in 2014, according to an annual study recently released by Bloomberg Government. But while this might at first suggest bad news for federal contractors, new patterns in government spending may provide the benefit of additional stability for federal contractors, according to the study. New Developments in Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order

President Obama signed the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order last year, but new developments with the order took place last week with the release of proposed rules to implement the order from the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council, and guidance for compliance from the Labor Department.
